Hot-air Balloon Safaris

Drift over the Serengeti as the sun comes up.
Hot-air Balloon Safaris

Balloons lift off before dawn from the central, southern or western Serengeti depending on the season and drift for about an hour over the plains, from treetop height to several hundred metres. You land wherever the wind decides, to a champagne breakfast laid out in the bush.

Is it worth it?

For most guests it becomes the defining memory of the trip: the silence between bursts of the burner, the shadow of the balloon sliding over herds below, the scale of the plains in early light. It is a splurge, so we suggest it for special occasions and migration months, when there is most to see from above.

Questions, answered

When should I book a balloon flight?

Together with your safari. Places are limited each morning, especially in July–September and over the festive season. We book it with your lodges so your guide can be waiting where you land.

Your expedition begins with a conversation.

Tell us when you would like to travel and what moves you. A safari designer in Arusha will reply personally within 24 hours — with ideas, not a brochure.
